Pricing
Our service prices vary, but are very reasonable, especially when compared to large chain service centers. Please call ahead for an estimate. We generally stick to our estimates; the only time the price would vary would be if extra parts were needed at an unexpected price, in which case we would notify you ahead of time, or if your situation wasn't as you described it—again, we would contact you before proceding should the estimate go up at any point.
Office Location
As of July 1, 2011, Earth2Me's primary office is located at 503 Main St 2Fl, Medfield, MA 02052. Computers and other equipment should be dropped off at that location. The building entrance is to the very left side of the building, if the viewer is facing the front of the building. Even if we are open, our office may be locked for security: please call ahead, and we will greet you at the entrance and carry any equipment up the stairs for you.
House Calls
We are aiming to be a fully insured business. With insurance comes certain responsibilities and limitations. According to our contract, most of our services must be provided from within our office. While we can make house calls, they complicate insurance matters and generally make things more difficult for Earth2Me, so we ask that, if all possible, equipment be brought to our office.
Preparing Your Computer
If you are able, we ask that you change your password prior to sending your computer to us. This is for your security: we don't want to know your normal password. If you are unable or forget to provide and administrative password for your computer, we may either charge you for bypassing/overriding the password, or be unable to service your computer until you are able to provide a password. By utilizing our service(s), you are agreeing to provide us with administrative access to your computer. We cannot service any computer in any manner without administrative access.
What to Bring
Unless there is a specific problem with another portion of your computer (for example, your screen won't turn on), you generally only need to bring the big box that is your actual computer, also known as the tower. Unless common sense dictates otherwise, cables, monitors, mice, and keyboards can usually remain at home. The only exception here is in the case of laptops: laptops must come with their respective chargers. Be sure to only unplug connections at the back of your computer: unplugging cables on both ends (i.e., from your computer AND the printer) will make it much more difficult to reassemble the configuration later. Unless you must unplug something in order to physically free the tower, leave it be.
Bringing Your Computer Back Home
The scariest part of the whole procedure is reconnecting all the cables. Generally speaking, if a cable fits, it belongs. Provided that you only unplugged what was required per "What to Bring", reassembly should be very straightforward if following the if-it-fits-it-belongs rule.
